Guidelines for members that wish to deposit a Traveling Card into Local 17, IBEW for membership as per the Executive Board meeting on November 30, 2005.

CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTORS:
- Must have worked at least one (1) year on the property
- Must have a valid Traveling Card from home Local Union
- Must provide letter of introduction from home Local Union
- Must receive letters of recommendation from the Employer, Foreman, and Job Steward
- Must provide proof of residency, which is defined to mean the geographical jurisdiction as listed in Local 17’s By-Laws (plus the commuting distance adjacent thereto which includes the area from which the normal labor supply is secured)
TREE TRIMMERS:
- Must have worked at least six (6) months on the property
- Must have a valid Traveling Card from home Local Union
- Must provide letter of introduction from home Local Union
- Must receive letters of recommendation from the Employer, Foreman, and Job Steward
- Must provide proof of residency, which is defined to mean the geographical jurisdiction as listed in Local 17’s By-Laws (plus the commuting distance adjacent thereto which includes the area from which the normal labor supply is secured)
UTILITY, MUNICIPAL AND CO-OP EMPLOYEES:
- Must complete employers defined probationary period
- Must have valid Traveling Card from home Local Union
APPRENTICES: Required to deposit Traveling Card if actively engaged in an apprenticeship program in the jurisdiction of Local 17, once they have provided the following documentation:
- Proof of Apprenticeship
- Valid Traveling Card from home Local Union
- A letter of introduction from home Local Union
